All That Glitters

  Trying to relax before dinner, I found a story on Youtube while I waited.  Are all these stories identical?   "Turn, turn.  See the pathos.  A whale of a lot of snow.   A blizzard!!  Oh no!! I huddled in my house feeling darkness creep far over the land.  I'm not just talking about a cloudy sky, or sunset.  No!!   Far, far worse.   There was almost no time to prepare." I knew where this was going.  We need an angel.  "As I shivered, trying in vain to stay warm, suddenly my soul left my body.  It went outside and flew around above the houses.  Above the driveways.  Above the roads, the trees,  the pastures,  the stores, the schools..." Okaaay.   I keep telling myself that any second now, we'll get to the point.   "Above the Walmart.  Above restaurants.  Above my beauty shop."  How long had I stuck with this tale of woe, continuing to wait for what they had to say...

  Plan A:  Marry a man with millions.   Plan B:  Wait for the price of silver to go up to $2,000,000 an oz.   There.  What will I do with my millions?  Have a new roof put on the house.  A metal roof.  What color?  I'm thinking red.  Then?  Pink siding on the house.  I can already hear to remarks as people drive by.  Some will say, "Look at that silly, tasteless house!"  But before you know it,  every house in the county will be pink with a red roof.  I'll have to have the front door painted to match the roof.   Next, I'll remodel the kitchen.  I may need to start over on the walls.  This dear house isn't insulated.  The cabinets will be removed, and then the sheetrock.  I may even have the sink removed for repairs of the cabinet.  All the exterior walls wills be filled with heavy insulation.  Then new sheetrock.  I'll have all the walls painted pink.  T...

  The weather people have gone rogue.  I listen to weather reports.  Are they just trying to scare me?  I check the internet.  They're even more scary.  Weather like I don't ever remember.  So what?  Why would this be scary? Mostly I think we may get a foot of snow.  And maybe sleet.  But some reports are actually calling for three feet of snow.  Well, that would mean being snowbound.  For how long?  The facts are, last year when there was a situation with snow, the county came out and plowed it off the road.  After a few days.  Will they do that this time?  We'll see.  The scary part is the amount of snow.  Two days of heavy snow.  Watching the weather stations, eventually they admit they just don't know.  Will it be just a problem for a couple of days?  Or a couple of weeks?  Will it be snow or snow and sleet?  Is this an ice storm?  I guess what I'm nervous about is...

  Every day, religiously,  I have checked the weather report, especially for snow.  Not until February at least.  But I see a cloud...  Oh, that's just rain.  Maybe with lightning.  A tornado??  No, not likely.  OK.  Suddenly, "Oh, by the way, it supposed to snow tonight."  This is disturbing.  I'll be trapped, trapped like a rat.  I'll starve.  The pipes will freeze and I won't have water.  What if the power goes out?  I'll freeze.  The temperature is supposed to be 12*.   You could play in the snow.  You could make a snowman.  NO, I don't want to play in the snow.   I should have been consulted.  How about sitting at the window with a sweater on and drinking hot chocolate? Maybe.
